  • Pastor Rodney L. Davis, Sr.

Pastor Rodney L. Davis, Sr. accepted Christ at an early age.  Since he was so young, he did not fully understand the meaning of diligently serving God, but thanks be to God he had a praying mother whose prayers were answered and Pastor Davis began to know Christ for himself.

After being a faithful member for several years at Trueway “Help Me Holy Ghost” Baptist Church, his Pastor Rev. D. Frank Waiters (His Pastor from 1987 – 1997) appointed him to serve as Deacon-In-Training in 1988.  A year later, Rev. Davis was ordained as a Deacon at Trueway Baptist Church.

Pastor Davis was called into the ministry on September 24, 1992 and preached his initial sermon the second Saturday in December 1992.  His text came from St. Matthew 16:18-21 & 25 and his subject was “Whom Do You Know Jesus To Be.”

He studied the “Book of Luke” at the Washington Bible College in PG County, Maryland.  He then furthered his education and studies at Wilbur Waters School of Religion and Theological Seminary (WHWRTS) and earned his B.DIV. and obtained master’s degrees in Divinity and Theological studies.  He completed his Doctorate of Divinity degree classes.  He has also completed the Clinical Pastoral Counseling Certification class under Maryland University, through Wilbur Waters (WHWRTS).  He received a Ph.D. in Pastoral Ministry (Ph.D.P.M.) with the Christian Bible College and Seminary.

In March 1997, Pastor Davis officially joined the Ministerial Staff of Corinthian Baptist Church under the esteemed late Pastor Rev. Cassell Ward.

In October 1997, he was called to Youth Pastor at New Chapel Baptist Church in Camp Springs, Maryland under the esteemed leadership of Pastor William Hill.  Pastor Davis has served as the Youth Council President and as a part of the Board of Directors for the School of Christian Education and the Overseer of the Prison Ministry and Vice-President of the Conference Ministry at New Chapel.

Pastor Davis is a fire ball preacher who can preach, will preach, and does not mind preaching. His favorite scripture is Joshua 24:15: “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”  He is an Ambassador for Christ who is known as “the motivator.”

Pastor Davis is a powerful man of God, but he is not alone in his spiritual journey.  He walks his path with a powerful woman of God by his side, Pastorette Lynette D. Davis.  Pastor Davis will proudly proclaim from the pulpit, that Pastorette is the bone of his bone, flesh of his flesh and his favorite cheerleader in the ministry.  God ordained their union and they are the proud parents of two children, Manicia and Rodney, Jr.  In 2003, they founded their own church and appropriately named it Unity Temple Baptist Church.

In July 2006, the Lord began dealing with Pastor Davis about his home church, Trueway Baptist Church.  Pastor Davis followed the instructions of the Lord and confronted his current congregation at Unity Temple Baptist Church (UTBC) with what the Lord instructed him to do.  The disciples of UTBC followed their Pastor as he stood steadfast on what he was told. In October 2006, Pastor Davis was elected as Trueway’s sixth Pastor.

At the end of October 2006, Trueway Baptist Church and Unity Temple Baptist Church officially merged as one church and the members voted to change its name to True Unity Baptist Church.

Pastor Davis has put together an Administration Staff to help balance out the various tasks that the two churches had in place.  This Administrative staff consists of Co-Pastor - Pastorette Lynette D. Davis, Pastor’s Secretary – Tiane Johnson, Church Clerk – Gwendolyn House, and Ministry Administrator - Diane Johnson Arrington.  He has also embarked upon a building fund project, added a Security Ministry, Praise Team and Jr. Trustees.  He has revamped the church structure and appointed Pastorette Lynette Davis as the Co-Pastor of this union.

Pastor Davis has a vision to take the members of True Unity to higher levels in their relationship with God, and he hopes to empower spiritual growth in the community of its current location in SE.  In 2007, Pastor Davis told his members this is the year of release and to “raise their level of expectation in all things.”

Pastor Davis is a BORN AGAIN, HOLY GHOST-FILLED, BAPTIZED BELIEVER IN JESUS CHRIST.
